WD Red WD40EFRX (4TB) to be used for HP ProLiant MicroServer Gen8

Hi there,

I have a spare SATA drive (WD Red WD40EFRX (4TB) out of my Synology Diskstation) which I would like to install into my  HP ProLiant MicroServer Gen8. Is this drive supported by this server? What do I have to consider to place this disk, whih was used in LINUX based Disk Station, into the Micro Server?

Many thanks for any hint, idea or solution.

Nik

Hello,

The MicroServer Gen8 has the HPE Dynamic Smart Array B120i Controller for controlling the installed hard drives. This controller recognizes HPE drives. It is always recommended to use HPE hard drives to ensure it is detected and usable. Non HPE drives may not be detected correctly and in some instances may result in the system fans running at high speed as the form factor may not match with the designed thermal air flow management within the chassis.. You may refer to this model's QuickSpecs for supported options.

Regards,
