Cisco Firmware Updates by IMC

I am trying to deploy firmware to a Cisco switch through HPE IMC, but the process failed. Is there any compatibility issue between IMC and Cisco?

Re: Cisco Firmware Updates by IMC

Hello @Omarrsd,

There is a compatibility issue in the sense that IMC’s firmware deployment capability is not guaranteed for all Cisco devices. While IMC may detect and monitor Cisco switches, the firmware‐deploy workflow can fail due to unsupported device models, mismatched transfer protocols, or firmware format/activation requirements.

IMC was originally designed primarily for HPE/Aruba/Comware devices and does support detecting many non-HPE/third-party devices (including Cisco IOS-based switches) for monitoring, backup of configuration, etc. For example, in the IMC 7.3 release notes it is noted:  Support for Cisco Catalyst 9000 devices was added in ICC..
