Just What Is Enterprise SDS?
Hal Woods, former HPE CTO for Software-Defined, breaks it down in this very approachable VIDEO :
- Enterprise simply means this isn't a toy or a trifle; instead, it's built for Tier 1 workloads with very low latencies to get the job done for real applications like Database Acceleration, with Block and Cloud-Native protocols. Datera delivers <200 microseconds latencies
- Software-Defined means that is is programmable and full of automation to eliminate the need constant manual tuning... Similar to HPE's own Infosight Platform, Datera aggregates cloud-based telemetry across customers, data centers and nodes to assess needs to optimize for availability, performance and efficiency, and rather than send an alert or log a ticket, the system acts -- moving data across data centers, nodes in a cluster, or even across media within a server node.
- Storage simply means that it is designed to scale for real storage needs, and Datera does it with industry standard servers -- HPE blades -- that span many media types (hyrbid nodes, all flash nodes, NVMe nodes) all in the same pool. This means you avoid condemning a cluster to chronic expense (aka, all-flash or all-NVMe for every node) or under performance (hybrid everywhere).
Datera brings the cloud architecture and experience of the Public Cloud to an on-premises, public cloud connected hybrid- or multi-cloud future. And in the process, you eliminate 80% of the cost of traditional storage approaches and of the Public Cloud and you similar levels of agility. That's why HPE distributes our software-platform worldwide. After watching this video, let us know if you want to learn more at www.datera.io.
