Smooth Migration from Non-PCE to PCE using Zerto
StoryLine: "Migrate a VM from Non-PCE (VMWARE vSphere) to PCE-VMWARE Environment with Near-Zero downtime, & RPO in Secs data."
Characters Required
Non-PCE Envrionment Where workloads are running as VM's in your vSphere Infrastrucuture. Of-course, current vSphere infrastructure should be compatible with Zerto. Here is link to check : https://help.zerto.com/bundle/Operability.Matrix.HTML/page/VMware_vSphere.htm
HPE PCE with VMWARE Stack Environment is optimized your private cloud experience. This platform is so regulated environment for Enterprises to get cloud like operations and capabilities for their mission critical applications. For more check this link: https://www.hpe.com/in/en/hpe-private-cloud-enterprise.html
HPE Zerto is a software solution that provides continous data protection, disaster recovery, and workload mobility across on-premises and multi cloud environments. For more check this link: https://www.hpe.com/in/en/zerto-software.html?utm_campaign=FY25_ST_GB_GD_APJ_IN_Data_Protection&utm_medium=PS&utm_source=GG&utm_content=521149673&plid=PSF-00001471&ef_id=Cj0KCQjwgKjHBhChARIsAPJR3xeq8gSSjj2aG9hCvZssZcp6ryvs2GON2eFrJjQe-Zj9ktl2o0nR4r4aAkCGEALw_wcB:G:s&s_kwcid=AL!13472!3!753248239349!e!!g!!hpe%20zerto!22575783539!177613160377&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22575783539&gclid=Cj0KCQjwgKjH...
Other characters such as respective storage space, network for workloads, replication networks, etc...to be consider when we do planning for migration.
Of-course, this is very short story we are trying to limited to very few characters.
Actions by Characters ......
- Deploy Zerto-ZVMA on Non-PCE VMWARE vSphere Infra.
- Deploy Zerto-ZVMA on PCE VMWARE vSphere infra
- Configure VRA's on both sides of PCE and Non-PCE vSphere Infra.
- Pair PCE and Non-PCE Zerto Infra
- Check replication networks on both of environments.
- Create a VPG with workload that needs to migrate and replicate the workload data from Non-PCE to PCE.
- Follow the processs to move workloads from Non-PCE to PCE using Zerto Move Operations such considering Commit Policy, Reverse Protection, Keep the VM at source site even after move, other settings like boot order, scripts, etc. then START OVER...
- Following running tasks using Zerto Monitoring Panel.
- Validate the Migrated VM on Target site and check post migration checks.
- Finally Commit with/Without reverse Protection & Keep Source VM's checkboxes enable or not.
- Need to necessary changes on PCE GreenLake Portal using Morpheus script to manage the migrated VM.
Morale of the story is How fast you migrate your workloads using Zerto with Zero downtime & seconds of RPO
For demo and more details reach out to us via PSD-GCC channel #psd-global-competency-center or make me an actor for your migration story @Ravi.seerapu@hpe.com.
