HPE StoreEasy 1650 Server

My Smart Storage Administrator / Manage Storage Pools not working

Also help me with the following queries:

  • How to upgrade StoreEasy which has come with Windows Server 2016 pre-installed
    • Say if it gets corrupted how to install the OS
    • I have iLO 4 firmware of HPE ProLiant DL 160 G9, can I use the same to upgrade StoreEasy iLO 4 ? if not can you help with the link to download the same ?

Do you want to upgrade Windows server OS? StoreEasy Management console? or iLo version?

Note: Optional upgrade kit needs to be purchased if the OS needs to be upgraded from windows 2012 R2 storage server OS to windows 2016 storage server OS.

Storeeasy 1650 is based on Gen9 servers and ilo4 firmware from the below web link should work:

SPP disk for Proliant Gen9 servers could be used to update the firmware of Storeeasy 1650 in offline mode:

Open C:\Program Files\Smart Storage Administrator\ssa\bin.
Right click on ssaclient and try to open as administrator.
Check internet explorer settings as mentioned in the error while opening SSA.
Try disabling protected mode in IE if its enabled , reset IE settings  and check whether it helps.

Try to use newer version SSA:

Execute the below command in windows powershell and check whether it resolves the Pool Manager issue:

Update-Storage Provider Cache

Hi Manish,

 

Also check whether storage controller and RAID is reporting healthy status in ilo menu.

 

From ilo > Information > System Information page, and then click the Summary tab. Click on storage and check RAID controller and logical drive status.

Hi Manish,

 

This would require a support case with HPE and logs from the server to identify whats blocking Pool Manager accces to storage controller, if ilo does not report any hardware issue with storage controller. 

May I know whether you were able to troubleshoot SSA access issue?

Whatever steps you mentioned as 

Open C:\Program Files\Smart Storage Administrator\ssa\bin. - OK
Right click on ssaclient and try to open as administrator. - OK
Check internet explorer settings as mentioned in the error while opening SSA. - SSA is default opening in IE, I have changed the default browser to Chorme then also it is opening in IE ?
Try disabling protected mode in IE if its enabled , reset IE settings  and check whether it helps. - It is already unchecked.

Try to use newer version SSA:

Uninstalled the existing SSA and installed the new one as you mentioned, no success!

Hi Manish,

 

Open internet explorer.
Click on Tools > Internet Options.
Click the Security tab > Custom Level.
In the Scripting section, click Enable for Active Scripting.
Click on OK.
If its already enabled, disable it once, exit browser.
Reopen internet explorer and enable it again.

Open internet explorer.
Click on Tools > Internet Options.
Click on Security tab.
Select Trusted sites and check whether http://localhost is listed.

Thanks for the solution - SSA is working now

But StoreEasy Pool Manager is showing the same error as attached previously.  Kindly advise as to what consequences would I face if I do not get the issue resolved

Also I checked the iLO where it is mentioned Storage - it shows Physical / Logical status - OK

There is no RAID option to look for ?

Please advise!

Hi Manish,

Glad to know that the steps shared worked.

Pool Manager uses SSA in the back end and inability to access Pool Manager should not create any issues.

You could monitor the array logical drive / controller/ hard drive status through SSA.

Physical / Logical status okay in ilo indicates healthy hardware including RAID configuration.

I visited the link and it shows me only 1 HP system DL 160 G9  under Products Impacted, so does it mean that StoreEasy 1650 iLO 4 could not be upgraded using the above or since my contract /warranty is not active that might be the reason not showing under Products Impacted ?

Please advise!

Hi Manish,

Storeeasy 1650 is based on DL380 Gen9 server and ilo4 firmware version 2.79 from the shared web link would work.
