NAS 1000s 1TB and appletalk
I'm trying to get the appletalk protocol installed on my NAS 1000s and it refuses to cooperate.
Through the web based administration tools all protocols show up except appletalk. When i go to add appltalk the checkbox is always greyed out. Appletalk is installed on the NIC and appears in the correct zone.
I went ahead and tried installing PC maclan and the Miramar appletalk protocol installs fine and users can acces the NAS, but not the RAID-5. It say cannot access the NTFS drive, local administrators need access. I'm in admin of course...so not sure why it cant access the RAID root.
I'm sure i missed soemthing really stupid. any ideas?

Re: NAS 1000s 1TB and appletalk
One thought that comes to mind is to verify that the Mac software you installed can use Dynamic Disks. Keep in mind that on the 1000S, the disks are "dynamic" and not "basic" -- which can have compatibility issues with some software.
With regard to the built-in MAC protocol, I'm not sure why that wouldn't work. You might want to try uninstalling and re-installing the protocol, to see if that helps clear up whatever the problem was.

Re: NAS 1000s 1TB and appletalk
i thought of that, but now the mac users can see the system drives ("great") but not the RAID. Both the sytem and the RAID is dynamic.
i tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail. The appletalk protocol in the administration window is always greyed out, and any attempts to share the RAID end in the cannot access the root error. (Which is kind of odd since even the system root is shared. only temporarily of course.)
