StoreEasy 1660 Expanded Storage lost HPE Smart Array P816i-a SR Gen10 after 1 drive failed
Hi all,
I am having a problem with my StoreEasy 1660 Expanded Storage. After the device reported a hard drive failure, we did not have time to replace the failed drive, then the HPE Smart Array P816i-a SR Gen10 also reported a failure.
We tried restarting, the OS still started but the RAID card cluster and drives were not found.
Is there any way to determine the cause? Is the RAID card broken?
Can the data stored on the hard drive be recovered if a new RAID card is replaced?

Re: StoreEasy 1660 Expanded Storage lost HPE Smart Array P816i-a SR Gen10 after 1 drive fa
I checked in SSA GUI and the RAID card and drives are no longer visible.
The solution is to replace the RAID card. Is the data recoverable?

Hi @ram_eranki ,
Thanks for the info. I checked and they are gone, I think the RAID card is broken.
After I replace the RAID card and reuse the old drives. Can I get the data back?
Have you ever encountered this case?

Re: Query: StoreEasy 1660 Expanded Storage lost HPE Smart Array P816i-a SR Gen10 after 1 d
Hi @support_s ,
Thanks for the info.
I have found the part of the RAID card I am using.
What I'm interested in right now is the data that I'm storing. Can I get the data back?

Re: Query: StoreEasy 1660 Expanded Storage lost HPE Smart Array P816i-a SR Gen10 after 1 d
Hi,
The operating system would be installed on drives connected to embedded S100i controller. The data drives would be connected to P816i controller. Have you tried removing and reseating the P816i RAID controller card and any cables attached to it? The data should ideally still be intact even if the controller is replaced as the configuration information is saved in hard drives. You might lose the data in the controller cache which couldnt be flushed to hard drives. I would suggest logging an HPE support case and getting the AHS logs or HPS report reviewed to provide a detailed analysis and correct action plan as it involves data.

Hi, You may also check the integrated management logs in ilo menu for any errors related to the RAID controller card.

Re: Query: StoreEasy 1660 Expanded Storage lost HPE Smart Array P816i-a SR Gen10 after 1 d
Hi @ArunKKR ,
I have tried unplugging and replugging the cables and the raid card but they still don't seem to work. I can't find them anywhere, not even in the SSA GUI or iLO.
I am ordering a new RAID card. Hopefully after replacing it it will work again.
As you said I can import the original RAID configuration from the disks right? Do you have a how-to guide on this?

Re: Query: StoreEasy 1660 Expanded Storage lost HPE Smart Array P816i-a SR Gen10 after 1 d
Hi,
There are no actions needed from your end after replacing the controller card.
The replacement controller will auto detect configuration from drives during first boot.
