StoreEasy 1660 Performance Raid HW or SW Best Practice Configuration
Hello Appreciated Community.
Taking into account that the EE 1660 Perf with OS W2019 IOT has the option to do Hardware or Software Raid configurations, what would be the best recommended practice to implement the disk arrays? With the HPE Smart Array P816i-a SR Gen10 Raid controller or Winserv 2019 IoT Raid Software?, which latter, for example, with four 10TB disks in raid 5 delivers 25TB of effective space with a high OS overhead for the RAID. I thank you in advance.

Re: StoreEasy 1660 Performance Raid HW or SW Best Practice Configuration
Hi,
Creating disk array using hardware RAID controller P816i is recommended in StoreEasy servers. You could make use of the StoreEasy management console to configure the disk array.
From StoreEasy Administrator guide:
https://www.hpe.com/psnow/doc/a00048291en_us
The StoreEasy 1X60 systems use P-Class HPE Smart Array controllers to pool physical disks into a
hardware-based redundant array of inexpensive drives (RAID). RAID delivers the flexible resiliency, performance, capacity
and security that modern file servers need. The Windows Storage Server 2016 operating system of StoreEasy displays
RAID arrays in the HPE StoreEasy management console or Windows Server Manager as storage pools.
WARNING: Using Windows Server Manager creates Storage Spaces RAID configuration, that is not supported by
the HPE StoreEasy 1X60 systems. You are recommended to not use Windows Server Manager to create new storage pools.
Note: The same information holds good for Windows 2019 as well.
