1/8 G2 Tape Drive Compatibility
I have an older HP Storageworks 1/8 G2 Tape Autoloader with an Ultrium 4 tape drive in it. I would like to upgrade this drive to an Ultrium 6. How can I find out if it is compatible with my hardware? Also, am I correct in that an Ultrium 6 drive can read LTO 4 tapes?

Torsten,
Thanks again for your kind response. If you could shoot me a link to those quickspecs, I would be very appreciative.

Re: 1/8 G2 Tape Drive Compatibility
All 1/8 G2 autoloaders are hardware compatible with all of the tape drive upgrades for any of the MSL G3 tape libraries such as an MSL 2024 or MSL 4048 as long as the firmware in the 1/8 G2 is new enough. Most of the documentation and compatibility lists do not show drive upgrade options for the 1/8 G2 autoloader as the cost of a new autoloader is so close to the upgrade drive cost that upgrades are not expected.
I don't have a handy cross reference showing what firmware versions are required for the various drive types but if your firmware version date is 2013 or newer then it should support LTO-6.
