Administrator Password - HP 1/8 448 G2 Tape Autoloader

I have just purchased a brand new HP 1/8 448 Tape Autoloader and I am setting it up. The system asks for an administrator password. I don't have a password, I don't know the password which has previously been entered - it was not blank when I received the unit.

I believe it is an 8 digit number.

How do I delete the password in the system and change it ? Can the password/system be reset ?

Without the password the unit does nothing ! Please help !!

The default password is all zeros.

Hi Drew,

By default there should not be any Admin passwords set to the Autoloaders. If it is,
We can reset the complete unit to factory defaults,if you are able to access this under configuration you can do that or you can call HP support, they will help you in doing it by using the service passwrd of the Autoloader

The service password has to be created based on some information on the autoloader

Just for reference -

My password was also set when i unboxed my autoloader.

I guessed the password of:

12345678

Hi, I also face same issue, then i have call HP support thay ask for default year and date and time, after that they gave me 8 digit number for login. throgh that i able to login. The default pwd will be 00000000 but sometime will not work even tho to LTO console as well.

Correct, the factory default is 8x "0" which means "unset". With no password set you cannot use the remote web console.

You need to set an 8 digit password from the front panel.

In case you forgot the password, you need to call HPE support, they can create you a temporary admin password valid for a couple of hours.
