AIT 50 tape drive Compaq sdx-500c
Has anyone seen an issue where a new tape is inserted then ejected about 2-3 minutes later? The old tapes work fine, we were trying to replace them as a precaution. Backup Exec gives me a message that the "media is unrecognized".
I spent an unreasonable amount of time with Symantec and they suggested that I call the manufacturer. I spoke with HP at length yesterday and he determined that it must be a hardware issue. I disagree since the drive functions fine with the old tapes. When hardware fails, typically it either doesn't work or it doesn't work all the time.
Any ideas?
