Check compression ratio?
Is there any way to check the compression ratio of a backup job? Software compression is turned off so the backup software won't indicate the compression ratio. We only seem to get about 14GB of data on a DAT 12/24 tape drive so that would indicate a 1:1.2 ratio but that seems afully low. Is that normal? I know you can't get the full 1:2 ratio. I've seen some people suggest using software compression is better. If that's true, is there a way to turn hardware compression on & off with LTT?

Re: Check compression ratio?
you can test your compression capabilities with the Library and Tape tools diagnostic. You should not use software compression as hardware is better. It may be the files you are backing up are already compressed.
