Compaq DLT 40/80GB all lights are lit (not blinking)
I have a Compaq DLT 40/80 GB, model TH8AL-HL (assembly 146198-005) and it suffers the following:
When turning the unit on (switching on the powersupply for the computer) all light are constantly lit and nothing else happens (within reasonable time ).
Buttons have no effect. Being connected to a computer via SCSI-interface has no effect whatsoever.
A support document suggests that if either "no lights show" or "either side of lights are blinking" I should contact service.
The drive might have suffered a small drop during the moving of the server.
Is there anything I can do to repair the drive or should I just use it as a weight for my fishing nets?
While writing this the drive showed some activity (doesn't do it anymore though): the "use cleaningtape" and "lever available" -lights were blinking rapidly whilst the drive made weirds sounds and after they had blinked few times the "tape in use" light blinked off (light names are rought translations from finnish but I mean the bottom three lights on the right side of the drive).
See attachment video for demonstration.
