Compresson ratio for LTO2 400GB
im using: server2003sp2, HP 1/8 448 Tape Autoloader on Firmware:1.5/S54W, Symantec backup Exec 11d SP2 and LTO2/400GB Tapes.
when i perform a Full-backup all runs perfect. But in BackupExec it shows for each Tape "used Capacity: 196GB" with compression Ratio more or less than 1.20:1.
See Compresion settings in attached Printscreen.
How can i use full Capacity of my 400GB Tapes? it dosen't matter if the backupjob takes longer by higher compression ratio.

Re: Compresson ratio for LTO2 400GB
First, the tape drives uses hardware compression by default so do not use software compression. Second , if your files have already been compressed, for example through NTFS, you cannot further compress them. This is an excellent document that explains compression and what files compress better than others.
