DAT 40i versus NTBACKUP

I have a following problem:
I have HP Netsterver E800 /P5553/ with integrated HP DAT 40i

The HP DAT 40i is connectet on SCSI chanel B and the HDD??s are connected to first chanel A. I??m using NT40 server with last SP6a + Security rool patch from MS.

So and problem is if you are using NTBACKUP a got in backup.log following error:
Tape device reported an error on a request to write data to tape.

Error reported:
Hardware failure.

In EventLog is:
The device, \Device\ScsiPort2, did not respond within the timeout period.

Aand after reboot:
The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
hpdat

The problem is that I can??t remove medium which is into tape drive.
Pls help

Re: DAT 40i versus NTBACKUP

It seens a hardware problem, but before, be sure to reset the dat internaly, this can be performed shuting douwn server and leaving it for a few minuts without power supply, in this way, the internal dat can have a power cycle.
after this at the boot time, look at the leds if the orange one stay lighted, probably you have a hardware error (this is discovered in the power on self test),if everithing go right, the cartridge will be ejected.
you alco force an eject without power cycle pushing for few seconds the eject button. Remenber that a forced eject could let the cartridge in a non readable status.
