DAT 72 I/O Error 64 & 4024

Friday we had an I/O Error 4024 from the Data Protector Express backup software that is writing to the DAT 72 external USB tape drive. Today we have the Error 64 from last night's backup. I can't seem to find any listing of the error codes on the web site nor the documenation for this device or software. We have been using the drive successfully for about 5 months since installation on a Windows 2003 Server based Server.

Hi Mike,

I hate to sound like I work for a software vendor but you might try rebooting your server and trying trying the operation again.

If that is not an option you can just stop and restart the Data Protector Express service by using the Win 2003 Administrative Tools / Services utility and then try it again but that won't reset the SCSI bus.
