DAT72 USB Problem
Hi! I've DAT72 tape at 2 different locations. One in my office, & one at home. When I backup something in my office, I can't restore it at home. It's the same problem when I try from home to office. From office to office & home to home it's working fine. I'm using HP Data Protector Express. HP SW L&TT shows that everythings is OK. Can you help me?

Re: DAT72 USB Problem
I would suspect that one them has the read/write heads out of alignment but how do you check that out? If you have access to a third DAT 72 you can try to read a tape from each of the other two drives. WHichever one works will indicate failure of the other and it can be replaced.

Re: DAT72 USB Problem
I've tried both of the tapes alone. The same problem exist. When I'm backing up at my office, and restore it in office, it's working fine. Same happing at home. But backup at office & restore it at home or reverse, it doesn't works. No matter which tape I'm using. I don't understand...

Re: DAT72 USB Problem
DPX files should be the same, there is no encryption used on the data. You should be able to import and use the data.
If you have different operating systems, then you may want to write the data in a common data format.
To back up data in a generic format, first create a new backup job and select the data you want to transfer. Then open the Advanced Options dialog box and clear the Native data streams format check box.
When Data Protector Express backs up this data, it will convert it to a generic
format before writing it to the media.
