DAT72

What is the maximum the tape can take? I assume its 72 or there abouts but I have a data size of around 61 GB and its doesnt seem to fit on the tape. The back up software just fails to mount after 40 GB can anyone shed any light on this?

Re: DAT72

-> 36 GB native and 72GB Compressed

-> Uning the Library and Tape Tools software check for the Compression test, to check whether the drive is working fine.

Re: DAT72

Thanks I did this it came back OK. There are other test which one do you recommend? I ran the DDS assessment test it said the drive was dirty. Cleaned it three times but still no joy. Any other ideas? Thanks

Re: DAT72

Effective procedure for cleaning the DAT Drive would be to clean the Drive for 5 times continiously and also different cleanign and data cartridge.

Even after doing this if the tape drive reports a problem get it replaced.

Regarding Compression, If Compression test in LNTT is fine, It means the drive is able to process the compression.

Compression issues could be also becuase of the Cartridge, Backup Application

Hope this helps you.

Re: DAT72

Hello!
I have the same problem with compression. I try to make a backup with different backup softwares in different operating systems, but i have the same results, backups finalizes when data comes to 36Gb.

Do you resolved the problem?

Thanks.

Re: DAT72

I resolved the problem. The backup was timing out while waiting for extra media. I would have thought it would have fit on one tape but i actually needs two.
