data protector express 3.1 on linux

I install data protector express 3.1 on fedora core 2, the tape drive is a compaq dat40.
I can use "tar cvf /dev/st0 dir1",this works.
but in DPX3.1 console, I can not see this tape drive, only see ide cdrw
the message show after I run "cat /proc/scsi/scsi" is below

Vendor:COMPAQ Model: SDT-10000
Type: Sequential-Access ANSI SCSI revision:02

Why I can't discover this device in DPX3.1 ?

Sadly, I do not have an answer.

Just so you know, Data Protector Express is completely unreleated to the product of a similar name, (Openview Storage...) Data Protector.

Some marketing genius thought it would be a good idea to use the same name.

Very few people in this forum will have experienced "DPX."

It may be fastest for you to place a support call, if you have a support contract.

Sorry.
