be sure you have stopped the services :removable storage" or it will keep the owneship of the drive.
if you have still problem, run Storagework Library and Tapetools that is the tool used to diagnose the Tapes drives

Had to put another HBA in just for the tape - this time Symbios/LSI 53C875.
So now I have 2 HDDs on Adaptec HBA and 1 tape drive on LSI.
However, transfer rate looks poor. So far Tapeware registers 860 Kb/s (50 Mb/min)
