Device Failure 3EH
I have a SureStore DLT Library 7115 that keeps failing on startup. I get a 3EH Hardware failure every time it boots, and always in the same place. The picker moves left and right, then the translate frame moves to the top position - as soon as it gets to the top position, I hear a "whirring" sound, and then it errors out. I have tried replacing the entire picker and the encoder strip (it was bent in a couple of places) to no avail. Any advice on this would be appreciated.

Re: Device Failure 3EH
Error 3E is a translate error. Is there anything physically blocking the picker?
Is this attached to a windows or HP-UX host?
If so, you could install HP Library & Tape Tools (www.hp.com/support/tapetools), and collect a support ticket for the library. Post the .ltt file, and we can look at the micromove errors and it might give a hint as to the problem.

Re: Device Failure 3EH
Glen,
I looked in the code and found the first move y up and the hardware error code that is set is TRANSLATE 3Eh. This unit is having a Y failure. It could be the vertical encoder strip.

Glen,
Look at the vertical encoder strip and make sure that their is no damage to it.
