DLT 7000 Tape Usage

Does anyone know the recommended number of times a DLT7000 tape can be reused.

This may entirely depend upon the application. OmniBack/DataProtector supports the use of 250 times on DLT IV tapes. You can never entirely trust tape media anyway. You can only hope that the tape is okay if and when you have to restore from it.

"Because of the tape and drive design, HP DLT tapes are tested for 500,000 head passes, over 10,000 cartridge uses, and have an archival life of 20 years"

Is there any way to find out through OB Software as to how many number of head passes has the Tape gone through...

OmniBack remember the number of times the tape is used and then it is possible to calculate the number of head passes. In the document in my previous reply is examples.
