DLT 80 with windows 2k wont boot
I have hooked up a dlt80 to a lsilogic 160 scsi 3 card.
I get a blue screen during booting. If I try on windows 98, it just stops on the 98 screen. How can I find if what the latest f/w is for the unit as my first step. Cant seem to find on HP's web site.
THanks
dave

Re: DLT 80 with windows 2k wont boot
You can run the HP diagnostics tool for DLT tape drives (http://www.hp.com/support/tapetools).
However, it requires your system to run. Since your system freezes during boot you need to get around that first. One thing to try is to leave the drive turned off during boot and then turn it on after the system is up. You may have to scan for new hardware in the device manager (system mgmt console) to have Win2K discover the device.
Before you go through all that, you should check a few things first though (as a blue screen usually is an indication of a pretty severe problem). First of all I would check that the drive and your SCSI HBA are compatible. DLT drives come in different flavors of SCSI (high-voltage differential, low voltage differential, and single ended) and you must use a matching HBA. If they don't match I wouldn't be surprised if you see bluescreens.
If the HBA checks out fine, then look for proper termination. There should be a terminator on the drive. Also check the cables for bent pins.
