DLT cleaning tape barcode label
I have a HP A4853 DLT tape library. A while ago the cleaning tape was eaten by the tape drive and the drive was subsequently replaced by our CE. The cleaning tape was replaced but the library would not allow a cleaning tape without a barcode label. The quick fix at the time was to move the label from the destroyed tape to the new one. So the question, how are we supposed to handle this situation? A new barcode label (none included with new cleaning tape)? This library is running OB 3.1 under HPUX.

Re: DLT cleaning tape barcode label
Basically, assign a slot for the cleaning tape.
In the Devices Section right click on the Library device, select modify.
Choose a slot number for the cleaning tape in the cleaning slot section.
Put the cleaning tape in that slot!
Omniback will handle the cleaning for you!

Re: DLT cleaning tape barcode label
Slot 30 of the library is already setup for the cleaning tape. The library also has barcode reader support selected. The library still complains if the cleaning tape does not have a barcode. So now what?

Re: DLT cleaning tape barcode label
well, this may see like a dumb answer but either keep re-using the same Cleaning tape lable (like you have been) or go out and buy some more CLN lables in case you lose that last one.
Normally labels or cleaning lables do not come with tapes, you have to order them seperately.
