DLT VS160 External Tape Device - Cleaning Light

I have an external DLTVS160 which is only a couple of months old. The cleaning light is on. I have run a brand new cleaning cartridge through 4 times and the light remains on.

Can this light mean anything else? Or is the device now faulty. The backups are completing fine so it is not causing a problem at the moment.

Jay,

It does sound as if you have a problem with your tape drive. You should log a hardware call with HP or your hardware support guys. In the meantime, if the backups are working, i would not worry too much. I have had several DLT type drives continually show the cleaning light, but function ok.
