DPE 4.0 SP1 (build 46537) Configuration and Setup
Hi All,
We have DPE 4.0 SP1 (build 46537) installed on a HP 380 G5 (VMware Guest OS) running Ubuntu 9.04. This is our HP DPE domain server. We have a HP 1/8 G2 Autoloader (Ultrium 3-SCSI) Direct-Attach through a SAS HBA to the backup domain server.
In our setup we have 3 server's that we are currently testing as clients or Netwrok Agent connected to the backup domain. They are:
1. A windows 2003 SP2 file server
2. A Oracle 10g Server running on RHEL 5. We are making daily dump of the backup and RMAN hotbackups of the archive logs. These are done through script files that stores the dmp and archive log files compressed on a shared folder. We also want to backup daily the Oracle Datafiles to tape. 3. Exchange 2007 SP2 running on Windows 2008 R2 SP2. For this we intent to buy the Agent for Microsoft Exchange Online Backup.
We are currently testing this configuration.
The daily schedule we have configured using this setup are as follows:
1. We have populated the G2 1/8 Autoloader with 8 x HP 800GB LTO-3 tapes.2. Using a Simple-10 Scheduling we have selected the 3 server's and the "data" we want to backup.3. This backup job started on the 01 July 2010 and until the 08th July 2010 we have backed up a Total of 2697.37 GB of data.
The problem we having is that the Weekly Full Backup job that started on the 09th July 2010 at 08:00 PM falied. The total size of this job should have been 1572.03 GB and were scheduled to write to Weekly Set 2 catalog.
The Log errors reported:
Task failed:
Error 1040: No devices specified or all devices are now offline.
Warnings and Errors:Erro 51: Socket failure
I would appreciate any advice on the following:
1. The total storage capacity of the 8 x 800Gb Tapes are 6.4 TB. I would like to retain the weekly full or monthly backup tapes. How would we do this. 2. I do no want to delete the media and start from fresh.
If anyone has a similar setu I would like to exchange some ideas and configation examples.
Thank you.Rudolf
