HP 232 using non-HP LTO-1 Tapes

Does using non-HP tapes in a HP tape drive affect the warranty?

It does not affect the warranty, but there can be a significant difference in media quality, leading to lower capacity or prematurely dirty tape heads.

 

HP has the highest media standards in the industry, and media we reject is sometimes resold by the manufacturer to another vendor.
