HP Colorado 14GB Internal

Hello:

Getting the following error message: "Error: The device reported an error on a request to space backward by file marks.
Error reported: Hardware failure."

Happens when I start a backup.

The drive was just moved from a W2K PC (where it worked) to a W2K server. Secondary IDE controller. Slave device. CD-ROM is the master device. The server recognize both the drive and the CD-Rom.
Any ideas?

Your drive simply does not like your CDrom, Isolate the tape drive on the IDE or at least make it the master.
