HP Colorado 8GB External Tape Drive

Can I get updates to get it to work with Windows XP operating system?

Any suggestions are appreciated

Anne, the drive was discontinued before XP was released so no software was ever written for it. The internal drive worked natively but the external did not. If you want I can point you to some possible workarounds but for the most part, getting one to work was painful and very time consuming. If it were me, I would choose a more current backup tape drive as this one has been obsolete for several years

Lewis, Thanks for the reply. I figured that was the answer I would get, but I was hoping that after seeing some Windows 2000 stuff there might be an upgrade.

Since it cost 200+, any suggestions as to what I could do with it. I hate to just throw it in the trash.

That's the unfortunate thing about computer peripherals, they depreciate so quickly. What was worth 200 dollars 4 years ago is now virtually worthless. You can buy them on EBay all day long for 5 dollars but since no one uses win98 or older anymore, not much use for them I'm afraid. Seems wasteful I know, Sorry.
