HP DAT72 data cartridge (C8010A) bad media quality
I just purchased a new HP DAT72 internal SCSI tape drive along with 20 HP DAT72 data cartridge (C8010A). I got a lot of media errors on these cartridges. Every single one new cartridges from HP failed. Then I bought a box (10) of Quantum DAT72 cartridges and never had a problem with them. It is funny HP media cartridges are incompatible with it's own tape drive while 3rd party media appear to pass the test.

Re: HP DAT72 data cartridge (C8010A) bad media quality
Occasionally bad lots of tapes happen, as with anything that is manufactured.
You should by no means be expected to absorb the cost of the faulty tapes.
You can get all your HP media replaced under warranty if they have not exceed the usage life of the tape. There is no cost to you to get these replaced.
Call the customer care center 1-800-474-6836 and use the keyword 'DLT' to reach an agent.
I am sure they will be able to get all the tapes replaced, and there is no extra cost to you.
