HP DD-3 Catridge (C5708A)

How do you determine if an HP DDS-3 Data tape cartridge is authentically made by HP? I am curious because this kind of tape usually backs-up 12GB of data. I got a 10-box tape of these HP tapes but they are only backing 2GB per tape. The backup software also mentioned the tapes as having bad blocks. This is my first time to encounter such tapes. I have been using these HP tapes for almost 3 years. Thanks and more power.
