HP DDS4 40Gb USb drive veritas backup exec 10 issue
The drive is installed using latest hp drivers on windows 2003 small business server sp1.
Veritas backup exec 10 sp1 recognises the drive but when I add a tape to the drive, backup exec does not detect it.

Re: HP DDS4 40Gb USb drive veritas backup exec 10 issue
Hi Henry (Arsenal FC is my favorite too!):
Have you disabled Removable Storage in the Services Window?
Also, do the following:
1. Download and install (with default options) Library & Tape Tools (L&TT) from the HP website, i.e., www.hp.com/support/tapetools
2.Before running the L&TT, please make sure that all backup services are stopped and also ensure that the Removable Storage is disabled.
3. Once you run L&TT, choose Hardware Scan for the Scan Mode and NTMiniport for the I/O mode.
4. The L&TT will scan and detect the tape drive.
5. Next, you can run a couple of tests, for example:
1. run the media analysis test
2. perform a simple read/write test.
This will qualify that the hardware is working correctly.
I also suggest you to visit, http://www.support.veritas.com/
for further suggestions.
Thanks,
Satish
