HP-DDS4 Tape Drive
My HP-DDS4 tape drive installed in HP-UX server , reads only approx 2 gb data,
and after that it gives some cpio :I/O error,
what could be the reason?

the reason could be a bad tape.

but for all tapes it gives the same error,
is there any drive problem or something else?

Do you use a Cleaning Tape?
How old is the Drive?
How many data is already Processed with this Drive?

actually i m new to this field , but i guess the drive is just only 1 yr old,
so hardware problem is .........

Its important to use the Cleaning Tape with the Tape Drive for cleaning the it. Because often CRC-Errors are only appearing without cleaning the Drive. If you don't have a cleaning Tape Buy one!
If the Tape is heavily used i recommend changing the Tapes every Year!
Tape Drives are very sensible.
So i recommend to Use a few time a Cleaning Cartridge and new Tapes.
Now you can test the Drives with HP Tape Tools.
