HP StorageWorks 1/8 Tape Autoloader VS80 and Mac OS X

Good Day,

I have a client that was informed by another company that the backup device that they purchased, the above mention VS80 would would on mac os x server 10.2.8.

I cannot find any documentation anywhere on HP's website that would indicate that this unit will work on mac os x server.

They are using Retrospect 6.1 as there backup software if that helps

Am I correct in this assumption?

Tim, We do not support anything on MAC O/S but that doesn't mean it won't work. You are correct in using Dantz software however you may want to check with them to make sure you have the correct software version for this device

I do have all the latest updates for Retropect 6.1 install and the latest updates for the scsi card as well but it still will not reconize it.

So if it is not seeing it, I would be correct that it will not work

According to this link, the software itself does not support autoloaders.

Thanks again for the quick reply.

I followed the link that you provided and digged deeper in there website and found that the autoloader is supported.

Now I have to figure out why either the mac os x server or the scsi card is not reconizing the autoloader.

my guess is the SCSI controller. Make sure LUN support is enabled
