HP Storageworks DAT 72 external (scsi) catalog issue

I use windows server 2003.
system crashed.
I can read data from backups several months ago but not from recent backups. tries to catalog the tape and then asks for the media #2. even though this is a one tape backup. I check the reports to make sure they are working too. I use NTBACKUP.
any ideas?? help!!!!

not sure, but Microsoft changed the tape.sys during last service pack, and the max block size is set to 64K, if in the past this value was changed, with the sp the new value is used to read write tapes, so you continue to backup, but cannot restore old tape.
In your case, looks like you restored old tape.sys miniport driver
