HP Surestore DAT24x6 re-calibartion
Hi,
My HP Surestore DAT24x6 autoloader tells me that
it requires re-calibartion. (all write operations are failing recently).
How is that performed? Can I do it alone (I have considerable skills) or do I have to send it to HP for this?
Regards,
Stefan.

Re: HP Surestore DAT24x6 re-calibartion
Did you run the HP Library & Tape Tools device analysis test?
If it recommends recalibration, we suggest you call HP to have them step you through running the script that is included with LTT. The device analysis may suggest other recovery actions first.
You can get LTT here:

Re: HP Surestore DAT24x6 re-calibartion
Yes, the re-calibration was suggested by the Device Analysis Test of HP Library & Tape Tools.
I even ran the re-calibration script which comes with L&TT, but it failed. So I am wondering if I have to do it in a different way.
Perhaps I'll have to call HP and ask them to step me thriugh this proccess.
Stefan.

Re: HP Surestore DAT24x6 re-calibartion
Yes, the test does not always successfully recalibrate the drive. It tries to optimize the write current to get a good signal on the tape, but it can't compensate for everything (e.g. excessive head wear).
Do you recall the failure message from the test?
