HP Surestore T20
I am using HP Surestore T20 for daily backup. The last two nights, I'm getting an I/O device error. Normally I hear the tape "retentioning", but I don't hear anything when I insert a new tape. In the event log, the error is listed as hpt4qic. Any suggestions?

Re: HP Surestore T20
you can try putting it on a different power connector, check your tape to make sure it hasn't despooled. If it doesn't spin the tape, it's dead

Re: HP Surestore T20
Thank you for the response. Forgive me for my computer hardware ingorance, but the backup unit is an internal unit installed on our server. If the server is functioning properly, are there any other connections I should be checking? I have a feeling the device is dead and it's time for us to move on, but I'm looking to see if there's a temporary fix until we get a new server and backup device. Thanks for any input you may have.

Re: HP Surestore T20
you need to pull the cover off the computer and try a different power connector, 1 red. 1 yellow, 2 black wires
