Re: HP Tape Drive 1533 and OBDR
Dear Bernd,
If your drive is a SureStore DAT8 (internal/external - product numbers C1528K/C1529K) then it is capable of supporting OBDR. You have quoted only part of the model number or the SCSI model string. Look at the firmware revision (Use HP Library & Tape Tools or you can look in the 'Settings > control panel > tape devices' screens in Windows NT/2000). If the firmware revision is prefixed with an A then your drive is capable of OBDR. A815 is the minimum version which supports OBDR. If the drive firmware revision is 9xxx then it is not capable of OBDR. The early DDS-2 mechanisms were sold as HP SureStore 6000. There were also drives sold as HP Smartstorage (product number (C6362A-desktop, C6363A rack drive). These drives do not support OBDR.
