How do I get the tape out of the drive?

try disconnecting the SCSI cable and holding down the eject button for 5 seconds or so.

That didn't work either. I've also tried disconnecting and reconnecting the power cable and holding in the eject button for 20 seconds. In addition to that I restarted the services, uninstalled and reinstalled the drive in device manager. Any other ideas?

Let me know which drive it is, 215 or 230, post your email and I can send you a doc for manual removal. There is no guarantee that the drive still because the tape maybe wound around the tape up reel

Ed, It's on the way. Be aware that this doc only tells you how to get the tape out. It does not gurantee that the drive or the tape will still be usable because the tape could be broken. If it comes out in one piece, I would not recommend using it again because it has either been dropped or mishandled in some way.

this should only be used as a last resort and does not guarantee that the tape drive still works.The drive may have other failure modes that caused the tape to get stuck in the first place.

Thanks for the instructions, but the problem was with the arm that grabs the tape. Sorry, but I don't rememeber what it was called. Since it was broken we had to replace the drive and now we're getting backups like we should. Thanks for the help.

I have spent ages getting this Ultrium Drive to work and now the tape is stuck in the drive.

Can someone send me the doco on how to remove the tape. I have tried all the other ways to eject it.
