HP Ultrium 230
i have the HP Ultrium 230 and
i can only 65 GB data write to
the tape. The tape is a 200GB
type for the Ultrium. The
BackupSoftware is Veritas BackupExec 8.5
The hardware compression is
enabled
Whats wrong ?

be sure you are using a new tape
be sure your ultium is working in streaming mode, in fact if you didn't give enouth data, you can waste space, try to run PAT.

My backup has been performing 175Gb of data successfully but is now failing at 154Gb before requesting a second tape. Performing a long erase on one tape enabled the full backup to take place, but why is this happening??
I am running Veritas 8.6 3878 on Win2k Server.

Are you writing checksums to media? (Veritas option) Did anything change as to # of files or type of files?
Also, when you said you had to do long erase to get full backup, do you mean after a long erase, you fit 170+ GB?
