Re: LSI Adapter for HP ULTRIUM 215 INTERNAL TAPE DRIVE
HP has tested tape and libraries with HP controllers, all listed in the quickspec for the device.
If you use a 3rd party controller, make sure it supports tapes and even libraries.
Other threads on the web suggest this controller does not work with tapes.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: LSI Adapter for HP ULTRIUM 215 INTERNAL TAPE DRIVE
You don't say which specific model. Generally controllers in a family work the same but HP tests/claims specific versions since that is not always true. You probably will be able to use other controllers in the same family but HP might not be able to support issues with that controller, you would have to go to your controller supplier for any communication issues.
HP has tested and supports the LSI 3041E 4-Port SAS controller.
HP also supports the LSI 1068e integrated onto the HP workstation motherboards so there has been quite a bit of testing of HP tape with 1068e based LSI controllers.
You can find the full list of supported controllers at http://www.hp.com/go/ebs
