Manually cleaning tape drive heads
I have a tape drive (DAT 72 USB). Initially the Clean LED and Green LED was ON continuously.
According to LED error indicator some hardware issue during self test.
I know the drive was not used for more than 1 year so I suspected Dirty head due to high humid or fungi. Tried to insert the Cleaning tape, it ejects immediately.
Once as soon as tape is inside, I have switched off power and switched on.
Now Both LED's (Green and Clean Orange LED) blinks slowly. I inserted cleaning tape. The tape sits inside for ever. No mechanism movement or Tape rotation inside. If I press Eject button Tape ejects.
Q1. Any Idea what is happening?
Q2. I still believe it is due to dirty head. Any one know how to clean tape head manually?
