MCB CAN Interface Failure

Hi!

I'm currently working with an HPE ESL G3 Tape Library, and I've encountered an issue. My LMC software generated a ticket for an "MCB CAN1 interface failure." The LED statuses on the MCB are as follows: the Green LED is blinking at 1Hz, the Amber LED is solid on, and the blue LED is off. Prior to this ticket, the LEDs were normal i.e. blinking green at 1 Hz,  off , and blinking blue.

The green LED indicates that the blade's main processor is functioning properly, while the solid amber LED suggests that the blade's power and control subsystem has failed. The blue LED being off means that the blade is not receiving power. However, the Ethernet port LEDs on the MCB are showing normal activity, solid green and blinking amber LEDs indicating that the link is up and data activity is occuring through the ethernet port.

Given that the blade's power and control subsystem has failed, is it possible for data activity through the MCB to remain normal? Additionally, the drive is performing routine read/write operations without any issues. Please assist how to resolve this issue.

Unfortunately, another issue is that I cannot access the LMC from my client; a dialog box appears stating "Unable to launch the application." I can only use it through the library's touchscreen. Could this issue be related to a faulty MCB? Also, I'm unable to ping the tape library's IP address from my client.

Thank you for your help.

Re: MCB CAN Interface Failure

@HP_User3

With the solid Amber LED on the MCB it looks like a faulty MCB card and LMC access issue could be due to Java issue.
ESL G3 LMC requires Java 8.0 and higher and it will only work with Edge with IE Support or FireFox but Java 8.0 or higher is required.
If this product is under warranty or contract. We can send an engg to connect to the service port of the library to extract the support ticket from the library or one from the OCP. This requires a special cable.
Alternatively, we can replace the MCB and follow the steps to update MCB firmware.

Do log a support call with the device serial# and based on the support contract. We can assist further.

Hope this helps.

@NarayanKK-SO

The routine operations of the library are normal. If the MCB is faulty, shouldn't the operations be interrupted?

The java version is higher than 8 but remote session can't be accessed. We are unable to ping IP of tape library.

The system was restarted and ethernet cables were also changed for testing but issue persist.
