Mechanical problem?

We've got a customer running a SSL 2020 AIT 2 tapelibrary, Firmware 04.16 with BootFirmware 21. The AIT2 firmware 1.3100. They're using BackupExec 9.0 build 4454. The backup stops working sometimes with no clear reason. Though it seems it stops working when moving the tapes in some manner, I'm not sure.
Is it a known problem?
The library is connected to a MDR with Firmware 11.86.
