MSL2024 tape library incompatible media error

I recently tried to move a full tape to the mail slot to take it out of the tape library. The job was running for a long time before it finally failed. After that I started getting an "incompatible media" error on my tape library. Now the tape library can not read the left most slots on the left magazine. That would be the mail slot, slot 4 and slot 8. The mail slot is always listed as being open even though it is actually closed. Slots 4 and 8 status is listed as "No Access" Scanning the library now is also a 10 minute process. But there is no problem reading the other slots or moving the tapes in to the tape drive.

I've rebooted several times and upgraded the firmware from 4.70 to 4.90. I probably need to call in a technician but am hoping there are other things I can try first.

do you have a barcode on that Tape Cartridge? what if you put it in another slot?
could be the barcode is damaged and istead of reading L4 it read L1 for example, that could explain why the media is reported as incompatible, and what if you remove the barcode?

I don't think there is a problem with the bar code. When I first realized that the problem was on the left most slots I removed the tapes from the mailslot, slot 4 and slot 8 so those slots are all empty.

I have the same error. In the tab status->inventory, Media Details->Attn>Media Error.
I did not think to a possible barcode label error.
I put in the tape the LT0 Ultrium 4 Data Cartridge Dell.
I thought about a possible compatibility issue of tape.
Can you please confirm that this tape (not HP) it's ok for MSL2024??
What kind of barcode could be ok for this tape?

If you ask HP, HP will say "use HP tapes!".


However, I have seen several errors bound to a slot, not possible to clear.

In the past I pulled the magazine out, eject all tapes, inserted the empty magazine (to clear such errors), then filled in the tapes again. Hope this helps.

I know that it's better to use HP tapes on a HP library. This is an order's error.
My collegue buyed this tapes (24) and I ask if is possibile to use them on an HP Library.

I verified and I open a new thread:
1)all tapes are HP LTO4 and not Dell (sorry)
2)I removed the labels, but the error still remain
In the new thread I write the log:

i am using brand new HP LTO4 tape (green ones) on the MSL2024 and keep getting the incompatible media error, i have also tried LTO3 tapes and still same error 

please assist urgently !!!!

I suspect it to be an issue with the robotics. Has anyone been able to reset the MSL to factory default, do a full reboot of the MSL and try again?

If that doesn't resolve it, I would probably replace the robotics.
However I have never experienced this yet, so haven't been able to verify this.
