i use the msl5000 with windows 2000 and Open view data protector 5.10. I receive the error "cannot load exchanger medium (no specific information)".

Is there a tape stuck in the drive? These SDLT drives have a habit of wearing on the eject mechanism. If you are competent release the tape manually from the drive.

Otherwise, is this a new problem?

No tape in the drive , i try to backup my server and the message is display. the drive is not move. I use the msa1000 , 4 server hp proliant dl380 and msl5000.

2 server with Microsoft 2000 server
2 server with Novell SBS 6.5

Problem lies with the servers fighting over drive/media changer, not sharing properly. How have you configured tape drive sharing?

First try to reboot the library and test
OR else..
If possible use the front panel or (web management) to do a calibration of the library and then try.
