Parity Errors on DAT40

I just installed an HP TC2110 server and moved the DAT40 drive off an old server to the 2110. I am now getting Event ID 5 - parity errors in the Windows NT event log. The backup seems to run, but it is logging many parity errors.

Any help appreciated.

Re: Parity Errors on DAT40

Is the drive connected to an on board SCSI controller or it's own SCSI HBA? If it is on board, you may want to try an additional card such as the 29160

Re: Parity Errors on DAT40

The tape is attached to the on-board 29160 via the external connector.

I will try a second controller and see if that makes the problem go away.

Thanks!

Re: Parity Errors on DAT40

Well, I added the second card and still getting errors. Upgraded system to Windows 2000 and I am still getting errors.

HP sent me a new scsi cable...no change. They had me run diags..all tests ok.

Now I am getting parity errors (event id 5) even when I am not running tape backups.

Since I am getting errors from more than one drive (an 18gb and a 73gb), I tend to think the problem is with the host adaptor...but now I am getting more errors on one disk than the other. ;-(

Is SCSI termination still valid?
