We have an MSL4048 tape robot, in which the robotic unit has begun exhibiting signs of wear / unreliability. I would like to replace the chassis (which includes the robot), but our required vendors can only offer an MSL3040 chassis as a replacement.
Are the MSL4048 power supply modules, LTO7 FC tape modules, and encryption module compatible with the MSL3040 chassis?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Parts Compatibility: MSL4048 vs MSL3040
After much sleuthing, the answer from one of the support engineers is:
The LTO7 FC tape drives and encryption modules from the MSL4048 ARE compatible with the MSL3040.
Power supply modules from the MSL4048 ARE NOT compatible with the MSL3040.
I've not had a chance to verify this independently yet, however, so no guarantees.

SolutionHello@RussellPrice,
Yes, it's correct.
You may reuse the LTO7 FC tape drives and encryption modules in the HPE MSL3040 chassis, but the power supply modules are incompatible.
Please check the below links about the Compatibility between HPE MSL 4048 and 3040 tape libraries:

Hope this helps!
