"library media removal prevented by host " on MSL G3 Series

Hi,

I'm using Data Protector 6.

I cannot open mailslot or magazine on MSL 8096 library. Message ""library media removal prevented by host" appears.

But where can I find an "unlock job" ?
What should I check to be able to open my mailslot ?

I've tried to reboot my robot whitout success.

You could try the following:

Install Library And Tape Tools 4.6 (if not already installed).

Do a hardware scan> select the drive and at the top icons click on Utility.

On the Utility drop down list, select Drive Configuration Utility>Options>Prevent Media Removal. Double click on it and select "Allow" the click on Run Utility.

That should clear the PMR issue you have.

Thx for your answer but it doesn t work.

The utilty works fine without any error message but I have still the "library media removal prevented by host" message.

I think this utility works for drive. Maybe is there a way to do the same thinf for library ?

Moreover, in HP command View MSL (web page), in Status, I can read : "Media removal : prevented"

I would try stopping the backups software services and try again.

hi,

This is Data Protector 6.

I can access to my magasines thanks this temp solution :
.shutdown the library
.unpluged all network card of my drives
.reboot my library

When my library came back on line, the Media removal option changed from "allowed" to "prevented"

Maybe I ll have to shutdown the data protector service on all my server where media agent is installed.

Hp support give me the solution :

the removable storage service on a windows 2003 server had to be shutdown.

You can find this server in support ticket.

Please note that the media agent was not present on my server
