Hi All
I was wondering if anyone has any documentation about recommendations regarding the max amount of mounts for LTO Ultrium 2 tapes before you should scrap the tape.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Thomas,
According to the following document it suggests 260 full tape backups.

Re: Recommended max amount of mounts for LTO2 tapes
We have two specs for tape life:
* Tape write/read life - 260 full volumes
* Load/unload life - 20,000
The load/unload life is high because these drives are designed for library use.
If you want to see how much life you have left then load the tape into your drive and pull a L&TT support ticket. Tape life information is under Cartridge->Tape health.
See http://www.hp.com/support/lttfaq for how to run L&TT.

It's more interesting when it's gone wrong
